Mountain Retreat

A 6,500 sq ft contemporary mountain home anchored by board-formed concrete and reclaimed oak.

Sited on a south-facing slope above the Wasatch Back, Mountain Retreat is a year-round residence for a family of five. The form is organized around a central great room that opens to a covered terrace and an unobstructed view of the Uintas.

Materially the project is restrained: board-formed concrete, vertical cedar siding, blackened steel, and reclaimed white oak. The palette stays close to the surrounding sage and granite, so the building reads as part of the ridge rather than against it.

Interior planning prioritizes circulation and light over square footage. A single double-height volume connects the kitchen, dining, and living spaces; private wings extend east and west to keep guest and family quarters distinct without adding a second story.
