Park City Residence

A linear, single-story residence that treats the ridge line as the primary architectural gesture.

Designed for a couple downsizing from a larger estate, the Park City Residence reads as a single horizontal stroke laid against the contour of the lot. Public spaces face the view; private rooms tuck behind a service spine that absorbs storage, mechanical, and circulation.

The exterior pairs blackened steel cladding with a warm interior of white oak millwork and limestone hearths. Floor-to-ceiling glazing on the southern elevation does the seasonal work — passive solar gain in winter, deep overhangs in summer.

The brief asked for a house that could host without becoming a hotel. The plan answers with a great room that opens fully to a covered loggia, doubling the usable entertaining footprint without doubling the building’s mass.
